Kissan Board members discuss canal closure issue

JAMMU, Jan 6: Kissan Advisory Board members in a meeting held today with the Chief Engineer Irrigation  Sushil Aima and his officers discussed the issue of closure of Ranbir Canal and its schedule for annual de-silting at Kissan Board office today.
On the directions of Minister for PHE, I&FC Sham Lal Sharma and Vice Chairman Kissan Board, Radhay Sham Sharma, this meeting to discuss and decide the canal closure schedule was organised.  The members of the Kissan Advisory Board and engineers of the department threadbarely discussed the issue and also projected their apprehensions. The farmers’ representatives also gave their valuable suggestions.
The Chief Engineer during meeting appreciated the genuine concern of the farmers and agreed that Ranbir Canal will be closed on January 20  for annual de-silting work and opened in the first week of March, 2014, so that farming community does not face difficulty in sowing the crops.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included secretary J&K State Kissan Advisory Board, G N Mir, Members – D P Khajuria, Rajesh Bittu, Baldev Raj Sharma, Sobha Singh, Vikrant Dogra, Suresh Kumar Sharma, Ch Dev Raj, Baldev Singh Sai, Anil Kumar, Devinder Kumar, Dewan Khajuria, R L Sharma, Hans Raj, Hem Raj Sharma, Raghunandan and Tejinder Singh.
