Kissan Congress demands compensation for farmers

JAMMU, Apr 30: Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Congress (JKKC) has expressed serious concern over the plight of the farmers including paddy, fruit, vegetables and flower growers who suffered great loss in the recent times and sought adequate relief and compensation to them.
In a statement chairman of the J&K Pradesh Kissan Congress Choudhary Gharu Ram, former minister and other senior leaders of Kissan Congress have sought the attention of the Government towards very important section of the the society, whose hard efforts and labour, feed the entire population.
They said that the Congress has always taken up the genuine issues of each and every section especially the peasantry, who are the back bone of the economy but very little attention is given to this important section.
They said that the entire paddy crop in the Jammu region especially border belt was damaged as well as the wheat crop too, due to unprecedented rains last but only meagre relief was given to affected farmers against huge loss.
He said now again the farmers especially those growing flowers, vegetables and sugarcane have suffered huge losses. The entire flowers and sugarcane crop has gone waste and could not reach the markets during lockdown, while vegetable growers too suffered a lot.
The Kissan Congress demanded that the Government should work out a package for the different categories of affected farmers and provide an adequate relief to them besides free ration for next six months. Their KCC loans should be waived off and remit the installments of the loan for the machinery and tractors etc.
