JAMMU, Dec 24: Kissan Diwas was observed at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SKUAST- R S Pura auditorium to celebrate the birthday of Chaudhary Charan Singh. Daljeet Singh Chib Vice Chairman ,Advisory Board for the development of Kissans was the chief guest on the occasion while M.L.A R.S Pura & political advisor to State BJP President Dr.Gagan Bhagat was guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion Daljeet Singh Chib said that the Government is making every effort to solve the problems of the farmers and the previous Governments have always ignored the genuine causes of the farmer community , but the current dispensation is going to focus on these genuine and much needed issues.
Dr.Gagan Bhagat in his address said that the day was celebrated across the whole country in the memory of Choudhary Charan Singh , who was born on this day. Chaudhary Charan Singh was the fifth Prime Minister of India from July 28, 1979 to 14 January 1980 and was the firm believer of this fact that farmers are the backbone of this country. He was primarily a farmer himself and his personal life-style was extremely simple.
The day is being celebrated not only to remember the great personality but to give a strong message to the Government also that he will not tolerate the injustice to the farmer community any further said Dr.Gagan Bhagat and regarding the upcoming Assembly session he pledged to strongly rake up the issues of this community which were pending for years. These included including K.C.C rebate and compensation for the wheat which was damaged in Jammu province due to flash floods .
The president of the Jammu & Kashmir Agricultural Entrepreneurship Development Association Kulbhushan Khajuria handed over the demand charter of the farmers community of Jammu Province to Dr.Bhagat and urged him to raise the issue in the Assembly.
