KATHUA, Feb 2: Jammu and Kashmir, Kissan Tehrek held a protest demonstration here, today against the eviction drive launched by the Government in the UT of J&K. The protest was led by senior CPI (M) leader and former MLA, Mohammed Yousf Taragami.
“We want employment not Bulldozer, Kissan wants Maximum Support Price (MSP) of his crop not Bulldozer, we want price control not Bulldozer, the J&K land is our land, we have full rights on it if anyone wants to stanch it the Government will face consequences said comrade Mohd Yusuf Tarigami while addressing protestors against land eviction and anti people budget.
The Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Tehrek organized the protest demonstration against the land eviction circular issued and use of bulldozer against farmers ,poor people and businessmen. They raised anti Government slogans and slogans in support of their demands.
While talking to media persons Tarigami said that the protest is lodged against the UT Government to dislocate the poor people from their lands which are cultivated by them for years together. He said such protests will be held from Uri to Kathua against the Government high handedness and Bulldozer action on the poor people by BJP led Government. He has asked the Central Government to stop use of bulldozer on J&K people. He has also criticized the Union Budget presented in Parliament yesterday and said that there is nothing for farmers and poor people in it.
The subsidy in fertilizers and seed is seen nowhere, the prices of essential commodities are touching sky, he added.
He asked the people of Jammu ,Srinagar and Ladakh to be united to fight against the Central Government to secure their rights. As the Government wanted to settle the big businessmen and outsider in UT and local people have been left jobless as numbers of business establishment and hotels were demolished on the name of land eviction.
On the occasion Ghulam Nabi Malik, State Secretary CPI (M), Kishore Kumar, Hari Singh, Banarsi Das, Seva Ram and Mohd Abass Rather also addressed the rally.
Ghulam Nabi Malik asked the Government to abandon anti poor and anti farmers policies immediately. He said instead of giving relief to common masses of the UT the Government policies are adding to their woes. The youth, farmers, daily rated workers are its worst sufferers, he added.
