RAJOURI, Sept 20: Members of All Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Union (AJKKU) who are sitting on protest dharna here projected issues of the farmers, poor road connectivity and shortage of teaching staff in the schools in the district.
The Kissan Union members led by its chairman former Legislator, Ashok Sharma strongly condemned the Government for its failure to solve the issues of the farmers and improving condition of roads, irrigation facilities, sanitation etc. They pointed out that many rural schools are facing shortage of teachers and the study of the students is getting affected.
The deputation of the Union led by Mr Sharma also met the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, SE R&B Circle Poonch Rajouri and Chief Education Officer and also submitted charter of demands. They also pointed out that many schools are facing drinking water problems and in many of them there are no toilets. Some schools do not have fencing or boundary wall and the buildings need immediate repair work. They stressed the need for PeTs at Middle Schools and raising mid day meal scale.
The Kissan Union demanded that all the roads which have suffered extensive damage due to recent rains and also during September last year need immediate repair, restoration work. Many uncovered areas of Rajouri districts be provided road connectivity. They also stressed for double laning of Siot-Kalakote road and Mogla-Kotranka via Khawas road; Kurlia-Metka, Potha-Godhar, Potha Androlla and several other roads.
They demanded that construction of bridges at Sewa Jagir, Chakli, Abdrola, Bal Jarralan-Bindi, Dhanwan, Panjnara, Loorkote and Panja be expedited.
Prominent among others included Susheel Jamwal, Vinod Sharma, Kashmir Singh, Rameshwar Sharma, Amarnath and Arun Kumar.
