LEH, Sept 28: Chairman Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Vinai Kumar Sexena met Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Leh, Dorje Motup and discussed the launching of KVIC schemes like spinning, pottery and honey production in Leh.
KVIC Chairman informed Motup that these schemes aim to create opportunity of income generation for un-employed people of Leh.
Speaking in the meeting the CEC said that Ladakh has huge potential in value addition of Pashmina, Sea Buck Thorn and horticulture if these areas are focused seriously with viable programmes and financial supports by the Government of India.
Regarding pottery works and honey production, he said that these schemes could also be beneficial for Leh people in some specific areas.
He further said that LAHDC would extend its supports to reach these programmes to genuine people.
He urged upon the Chairman KIVC to bring more schemes with adequate funds.
Chairman KVIC said they will provide Charkhas and Looms with skill training to the people who will be listed by Leh Hill Council.
He further said that they also provide electric equipments to the pottery makers and wool spinners to ensure quality work, larger production with lesser time and efforts.
Sexena said that KIVC will provide Bee boxes to the people and the beneficiaries can generate an additional income of at least Rs 50,000 from the honey, vex etc.
