Vijaypur too faces power crisis

SAMBA, July 22: The people of Kiyani village of Nud block are forced to live without electricity, due to which they are facing a lot of problem. After heavy rain on Tuesday night, the transformer installed in the village had fallen along with the pole, after which the road in the village was closed and the electricity service was completely snapped. Although the transformer and pole were removed and the road was restored, but the electricity has not been restored till date, due to which there is a lot of anger among the people.
There is a lot of resentment among the people who warned to launch the agitation by taking to streets.
Raman Singh, Babu Singh and Sunny Kumar all residents of Upper Kiyani village said that the power line and pole were installed only a year ago and it seems that the contractor had installed poles which could not tolerate even a single shower of rain. This village Upper Kiyani, is just two kilometers from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya on Samba-Mansar road and electricity of about 20 to 25 houses was completely hampered.
The people have taken up the, matter with the Department but to no avail. They also demanded action against the contractor.
When contacted Manoj Kumar Manhas, Assistant Executive Engineer, Samba said that the 100 KVA transformer installed for 15 houses in Upper Kiyani village of Nud block had fallen due to heavy rains, after the fall the transformer was damaged, which has been sent to the workshop for repairs. It is expected that electricity will be restored to the area on Monday.
Meanwhile the people of Vijaypur town in Samba district are also facing acute power crisis with the PDD not taking any action to solve the issue. The people in the area said that though the Department has been approached to settle the problem but to no avail. They said huge amount is collected as fee from consumers but the power problems is not solved which is mainly due to illegal connections as Department has failed to act against such defaulters.
