KKHMS highlights issues of package employees

Jammu, Nov 2: A team of Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha (KKHMS) members, led by its chairman cum president, Ramesh Chander Mahajan visited migrant transit camps in the Valley, interacted with both migrant employees and non-migrants of Valley and took details of stock of various issues to address their concerns.
The package employees raised the issues related to migrant employees recruited under the Prime Minister’s Development Package.
They said recently allotted flat accommodations lack basic amenities at Baramulla , and other places, in view of upcoming snowfall and Winter season. They demanded war footing construction and repairing of internal muddy road connectivity with blacktopping, laying of cemented tiles in lanes, concrete wall fencing, drainage, sanitation, parks, and grounds, community hall , construction of grocery, vegetables, and chemist shops expanding space of bathrooms and free electricity in the migrant transit camps be provided on top priority.
The left-out PM package employees living in private rented rooms dispersed over Kashmir are unable to pay huge amount of rent Rs 10000-Rs 12000 in low HRA benefits of 8%-12% and other sharing quarters under the prevailing situation and they be provided Government accommodation.
The employees demanded that all package employees be treated at par with general employees and must be merged into State cadre, as was the policy made by the Central Government in 2009 and 2015 itself.
They said the policy decisions are required for the execution of transfer rights and equality with other employees working in the, UT and Central governments. This move will create new employment prospects for migrant youths.
They demanded implementation and grant of benefits under old Pension Scheme, besides granting of seniority lists and time-bound promotion, which are long-awaited demands for those working in their Department and to ensuring of a fair promotion policy.
They also demanded empowering the Nodal Officer (M) of Kashmir valley in addressing the issues on priority of life threatening diseases of parents of PM package employees to be transferred and allowed to resume duties in Jammu for need of family and nursing care , other related genuine treatment problems.
The conditions imposed on migrant youths seeking employment under the PM package, such as having to signed bond documents and overcoming obstacles, be eliminated once and for all.
