JAMMU, Nov 24: Another successful case of painless minimal invasive total knee replacement using latest high flex implant and minimal blood loss was performed at Government Hospital Sarwal. The surgery was done under Ayushman Bharat Scheme free of cost as otherwise patient had to spend lakhs of Rupees for such surgeries.
The surgery was performed by orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Nipun Kalsotra, on a 55 years old patient who was having severe osteoarthritis knee joint with various deformity which made him unable to perform his daily routine. Other team members which supported the surgery were anaesthetists Dr Vishal Gupta, Dr Anu Manhas, Adesh (OT Assistant) and other OT staff.
It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Nipun Kalsotra, orthopaedician has done fellowship in Sport Injuries, Arthroscopy and Joint Replacement from Germany and Australia. With the latest technique and high flex implant used, patient will now be able to sit cross leg and perform his routine activities with in few days.
Medical Superintendent Dr Vijay Raina informed that joint replacement surgeries and button hole arthroscopic joint surgeries are being regularly performed in Government Hospital Sarwal for the past few years by Dr Nipun Kalsotra and they have also started specialised sport injuries clinic every Thursday. Any patient having chronic knee pain and difficulty in walking or having sport injuries can avail this facility in Government Hospital Sarwal free of cost under Ayushman Bharat scheme.
