Kohli directs for streamlining service delivery system

JAMMU, Mar 11: Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge), Rural Development & Horticulture, Abdul Ghani Kohli chaired a high level meeting of officers to review the functioning of the transport, SRTC and State Motor Garages Department here at Civil Secretariat today.
The Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Government to ensure transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Department and directed the officers to streamline the service delivery mechanism to provide hassle free services to the people,
The Minister while reviewing the functioning of the State Motor Vehicle department directed the officers of the department to ensure that public does not face any inconvenience and  stressed that they should be   well informed about the  procedures for issuance of driving  license, fitness certificates, route permits and various other services provided by the department. He asked the officers to adopt a pragmatic and innovative approach to improve the functioning of the department.
Regarding various driving institutes operating in the state, the Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure that these schools are having all the requisite infrastructural facilites as per the norms and directed for strict action against those failing to fulfill the requisite norms.
Regarding renewal of the driving licenses, the Minister directed the concerend officers to work out the details in this regard.
Underlining the importance of providing hasslefree servcies to the people the Minister directed the officers of MVD to ensure that driving licenses   and other services are provided to them within a stipulated timeframe.
The Minister while reviewing the functioning of State Motor Garages Department directed the officers to quicken the condemnation process of various off road vehicles.
The functioning of SRTC was also reviewed in the meeting, during which the Minister directed MD SRTC to provide the details of the vehicles and routes on which they are plying immediately. Besides, the Minister also directed him to take appropricate action for auctioning of the grounded vehicles.
Commissioner Secretary Transport Department, Bipul Pathak, Transport Commissioner, Dilshad Khan, Special Secretary Transport, Itrat Hussain Rafiqi, MD SRTC, J S Tandon, Director Motor Garages Department, G A Sofi, RTOs Jammu, Lakhnapur, ARTO’s of Jammu division attended the meeting.
