Kohli for effective implementation of welfare schemes

JAMMU, Jan 2: Minister for Transport, Abdul Gani Kohli today directed the officers to ensure that benefits of various people friendly welfare and development schemes percolate to the grass-root level.
The Minister was speaking at an awareness camp organized by the Social Welfare Department at Sail-Sui in Kalakote here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Kohli said that Government is committed to empower women socially, economically and politically as well. In this regard, numerous schemes like Ladli Beti, Aasra, Udaan, Himayat have been launched in the State. He said that Ladli Beti scheme will provide much needed economic security to the girl child born in poor family while as Aasra is aimed at providing security to low income group population in the State.
The Minister said that job oriented schemes like Udaan and Himayat are also getting good response in the State thus helping the unemployed youth in a big way.
Exhorting upon the people to avail optimum benefit of these schemes, the Minister sought whole hearted cooperation of the people for implementation of these schemes at grass-root level.
Earlier, the Minister convened a public grievances redressal camp at Kalakote in which people apprised him of their day to day problems mainly related to road connectivity, electricity, drinking water, health care and transport facilities.
The Minister assured the people that their genuine problems would be redressed in a phased manner.
