Kohli inspects SRTC workshops

SRINAGAR, Oct 31: Minister for Transport Abdul Ghani Kohli visited the workshops of Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) at Pampore and Parimpora.
During the visit, he inspected various production sections of the workshops including fuel injection pump, machine shop and other repairing divisions.
After witnessing large fleet of buses and trucks lying stranded in the workshop, the Minister directed the officers of JKSRTC to maintain high standards of repairing and make concerted efforts to bring the vehicles on road as early as possible.
The Minister expressed concern over hundreds of vehicles lying defunct in the workshop on account of some minor defects and for want of auctioning. He asked the officers of the department to take immediate measures for carrying out the repairs of these vehicles so that the people can take benefit of the facilities being provided by the corporation.
Expressing concern over the improper arrangements of electricity and water supply in the SRTC workshop near Batwara, the Minister gave the necessary instructions for ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply in the workshop.
Keeping in view the staff strength of the workshop, the Minister expressed concern over the availability of only one Sulabh toilet complex in the workshop.
The Minister instructed the concerned officers to upgrade and renovate the workshop and make proper entry and exit points for the vehicles and directed them for not allowing any vehicle with minor defects to remain stranded in the workshop unnecessarily.
