Kohli urges social, religious organizations to strengthen bonds of communal harmony

RAJOURI, Dec 8: Terming peace a prerequisite for development and prosperity, Minister   for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli today urged the social and religious organizations to work in unison to strengthen the bonds of amity and communal harmony.
“Maintaining communal harmony is the priority of both the Central and the State Governments and development of the nation is not possible without amity and brotherhood among its citizens,” he added.
The Minister was addressing an Islamic Conference organized by Ullemma-ahl-e-Sunnat at Eidgah, here today.
The Minister said Islam is against violence and terrorism and the people involved in the innocent killings don’t belong to any religion. He said Islam is a religion of peace, which believes in peaceful co-existence and prosperity of all.
Kohli said J&K is a beautiful amalgam of various religions and cultures, which are strongly knitted in the bonds of amity and brotherhood.  He said it is the duty of all of us to maintain this brotherhood.
A detailed memorandum was given to the Minister after the Conference wherein the religious leaders projected their demands.
The Minister assured the members that he will discuss these demands with the Chief Minister.
Prominent Ullemas, Heads of Dargahs, Khanqhahs and Imams were present on the occasion.
