Kohli visits border areas, takes stock of losses to livestock

JAMMU, Oct 28: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Ghani Kohli today took stock of the situation arisen due to cross border firing in R.S. Pura and Arnia sector and enquired about the well being of the people in the area.
He visited a number of villages in these sectors including Chakrohi, Dewangarh, Sai Morha, Kherowal and interacted with the people afflicted by the continued cease fire violations.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA RS Pura Dr. Gagan Bhagat besides concerned officers .
The Minister directed the concerned officials to develop a systematized mechanism to provide ration and other amenities like water to displaced people especially the livestock farmers and herders who cannot shift to the designated camp sites.
“The provision of ration and other amenities is citizens’ due and the officials have to ensure that these services reach people in time besides the district administration has to work in conjunction with the people”, Kohli maintained.
The Minister reviewed various provisions put in place for the residents of these disturbed areas as a result of continued cease fire violations . He also enquired in detail about the on ground performance of the Animal Husbandry Department functionaries in tending to the needs of injured bovine animals.
The Minister informed the locals that provisions have been made at SKUAST to treat the injured animals and asked people to transport such animals at SKUAST, assuring them that all possible help will be extended by the department for their need and care.
