KATHUA, Mar 29: The residents of far flung village Chadyar in Bani tehsil held a protest demonstration and blocked the Bani-Basholi road in support of their demand regarding construction of road link to their village.
The protestors drawn from Chadyar and its adjoining villages in large numbers including the women and school going children came on the road and blocked the movement of vehicular traffic. They raised the slogans against the Government and in support of their demands.
While addressing the protesters, the speakers condemned the discriminatory attitude of State Government towards the village. They said that the village has no road link connecting to Bani tehsil Headquarter and the people have to walk on foot up to 20 kms.
The Government has not so far started work on road despite the promise made with the people. They also marched to SDM Office Bani to submit a memorandum and warned the Government to face mass scale agitation if the demand will not be met.
The ex-minister, Prem Sagar Aziz also criticized the Government for its failure to connect the thick population of the area with road link. Ha alleged that a thick population of Koti-Chadyar and Doula is deprived of road link since independence and people including the school children, patients were forced to walk on foot.
He appealed the Government to start the road work to Chadyar which has already been sanctioned under PMGSY but work has not been taken up in hand so far due to unknown reasons.
The MLA Bani, Jeevan Lal said that the road work from Beacon to Chadyar via Koti and Doula upto 20 km was sanctioned and it has also allotted to the contractor. Even the work was started few months earlier but it was stopped due forest non clearance. The file was returned by Forest Advisory Committee for realignment of road because of larger number of green trees come under the road. Even the mater was also put in the notice of Forest Minister. In such circumstances how can the road work be executed, he added.
He assured that the matter is under consideration and its realignment will also be taken into consideration to start the work as early as possible.
