Koul asks workers to reach out to masses, strengthen party

BUDGAM, Aug 23: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul today said that people in Kashmir valley have been betrayed by successive Governments due to which they have lost faith in the system of governance. BJP, however intends to win hearts of people, provide healing touch and make them part and parcel of development of the Valley, he added.
Koul said that Kashmir once was biggest tourist attraction, people from around the globe used to reach here throughout the year, economy was bustling, people were happy and free from stress and most importantly students community and youth had opportunities knocking their doors.
Koul, while addressing party workers at Budgam said poor governance coupled with corruption and nepotism vitiated the entire atmosphere, made people suffer and brought in miseries for them and women, children as well as youth all suffered.
He said that several important educational institutions have been sanctioned for J&K State and special focus is being laid on development of infrastructure. However, youth are needed to come forward and be part of this mega development programme that is sure to being in a sea change in the situation.
He urged party workers to strengthen cadres at al levels and reach out to masses and win their confidence.
Vice President Yudhvir Sethi in his address said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has special focus on Kashmir and while he sees a ‘ray of hope’ from here he also intends to decentralise powers to ensure equal participation of common people in development. He said, setting up of companies one each for Jammu as well as Srinagar means that both these cities will soon get Smart Cities which will be historic decision to change lives of people.
Addressing a well attended gathering at Sunglipora, Budgam Yudhvir Sethi said that with regards to employment, self help groups are being encouraged to make youth self reliant. The Government on the other hand is discouraging backdoor employment by fast tracking recruitment through Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) and Public Services Commission (PSC). This is ensuring greater transparency and accountability wherein only deserving candidates are finding berths in Government jobs.
Unlike past when officials and politicians used to recruit their kith and kin, this Coalition Government is ensuring complete transparency and accountability in system of governance to win over masses, Yudhvir said, adding entire nation belongs to people of Kashmir and by this virtue several youth are contributing in established companies with their skill besides other technical knowhow.
The leaders who spoke on the occasion were  district president Budgam Ghulam Hassan Khan, Protocol Incharge Kashmir, Arif Raja, District Incharge Budgam Ghulam Nabi Namthali, Ex- State vice president Ghulam Qadir Wani and others.
