JAMMU, May 12: To discuss the problems being faced by the migrant voters in casting their votes in migrant camps and elsewhere during the recent Lok Sabha polls, BJP Migrant Cell under its State Convenor Bharat Bhushan Gosani held a meeting at party headquarters.
The meeting was chaired by State general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul along with leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria, Kashmir Cell national co-convener Chander Mohan Sharma, Cell’s State Incharge Sat Sharma (CA) and Migrant Cell Prabhari Shilpi Verma.
The participants in the meeting narrated their individual views on the recently concluded elections and the difficulties being faced by the migrants during voting. They were of the unanimous view that M-form procedure had deprived majority of eligible voters from casting their votes which harms the cause of the migrants and also deprives them of their most valued right of vote. They also alleged that the migrant voters had to run for days together around various offices and officers to get themselves registered as voters but the Relief Commissioner office and election authorities remained by and large obstructionist and extremely unhelpful.
Ashok Koul, while addressing the meeting, said that the election for State Assembly are expected in October this year and all of us have to get ourselves mentally prepared to take up the problems with the concerned authorities well in time so that none of the Kashmiri migrant voter is again deprived of his fundamental right of voting. He assured that the BJP is committed for the welfare and well being of the migrant community and shall spare no effort in this behalf. “It is essential that the party cadre again reactivates and goes into the migrant Samaj as it had been doing in the past”, Kaul said.
