JAMMU, Mar 31: A Kashmiri Pandit (KP) organisation here has appealed to the Government for increasing the cash assistance for the migrant families to the tune of Rs 20000 per month.
Kashmiri Migrant Relief Holders and Over Aged Youths, the KP Body, also demanded that the over aged youth of the community are given a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the loss of their career. They also demanded that the employment is given to every KP family.
In a press statement, the KP Body said that it’s been over three decades now since the Pandits were forcibly exiled from their homes in Kashmir Valley “but it seems that the successive Central and State Governments are taking pleasure from our tragedy rather than accommodating us back in Valley”.
It said that different standing committee meetings thus far have not come up with a practical outlook to keep the hopes of the community and over aged youth alive.
“Keep politics of permanent settlement aside, our youth who have become over aged, cannot sleep empty-stomach or cannot afford the treatment of their ailing parents.
“So, we request the Government to provide them a one-time compensation for the loss of their career and increase the cash assistance to the affected family,” the KP Body said in the statement.
