JAMMU, Sept 12: In a meeting of Kashmiri Pandit civil society socio-political activists here today held under the chairmanship of Ajay Takoo has called on the internally displaced Kashmiri Hindu community to actively participate in the upcoming Assembly elections.
In a strong statement issued today, Takoo discouraged any notions of boycotting the elections, urging the community to view this as a critical opportunity to demonstrate their political strength.
“This election is not just about choosing representatives; it’s about showing other communities and political stakeholders that we, as a displaced community, have a voice, and our votes matter. The more we participate, the stronger our position becomes in the political dialogue concerning our rights and our future,” Ajay Takoo emphasized.
He further added that the community has long endured challenges due to displacement and that boycotting the elections would be a missed opportunity to assert their influence and ensure that their interests are represented in the legislative process.
“Now is the time to stand united and exercise our right to vote. It is through active participation that we can make sure our concerns are heard and addressed, ensuring a better future for the next generation,” Takoo said in his appeal.
Vinod Pandita another member of the society and socio political activist said the KP civil society has long been a vocal advocate for the rights of displaced Kashmiri Hindus and continues to work toward ensuring that the community is not sidelined in key decisions that affect their livelihood and future.
