KPC for passage of Shrines Bill in coming Session

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 20: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) today urged State Government to introduce the Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Religious Places Bill in current session of legislature for its final passage.
The KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri has written a letter to Speaker of the State Assembly and copy of the same was sent to Home Minister of India requesting him for tabling of Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Religious places Bill in the current session starting from October 3.
In the letter, KPC stated that the Bill was introduced in the Legislative Assembly by the previous Government and was subsequently referred to a joint Select Committee by the House, as a result of which the objective of getting the bill passed was not achieved, when around 1200 temples and shrines spread all across the Kashmir Valley are in dilapidated condition which hold a very important significance for all the Kashmiri Pandits residing in the country and abroad.
It is an urgent need of the hour that these temples and shrines be brought under one umbrella for their maintenance as they are in bad condition and lacking proper lookafter, since the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley.
