KPS accuses coalition, BJP for scuttling Shrines Bill

JAMMU, Mar 7: Executive Committee of the KP Sabha in a meeting here today held under the chairmanship of its president, K K Khosa while taking the stock of various issues pertaining to community especially after blocking the passage of Shrines and Temples Bill by the State Government, expressed deep anguish and resentment over  the approach of coalition as well as BJP, NPP and others for tactically sending the Bill to Joint Select Committee (JSC) to scuttle it.
The meeting said that instead of scuttling the passage of the Bill, the members were with an option to pass it with desired amendments to give an indication to the minority community that their concerns have been attended and that they too have also taken due consideration of the apprehensions expressed by various trusts and other religious bodies. But summarily rejecting the Bill the concerned parties have shown utter disregard to the sentiments of Kashmiri community and have failed to perform their Raj Dharma.
The meeting said, while the return of KPs to Valley is a matter of primary concern and ostensibly all the parties keep trumpeting about the same, one more great opportunity has been squandered away to build confidence among the community about the return. The shattered confidence of the community has to be rebuilt with a string of measures before thinking of any return. The political parties by sabotaging the bill over looked this important aspect. By doing so they have depicted themselves in poor light proving that electoral interests are more important than the overall interests of the State.
The meeting urged the Sabha president to take lead role in pursing the issue after consultations with the likeminded people since the passage of the Bill is of paramount importance for the community.
