JAMMU, Sept 14: The Executive Committee meeting of Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS), Ambphalla was held under the chairmanship of K.K. Khosa, its president to take stock of present political scenario when elections to the Legislative Assembly are round the corner.
The elections are being held after a long wait of ten years and are significant to the general masses and political parties of the Union Territory enthusiastic to participate. The long pending issues concerning the community of Kashmiri Pandits vis-à-vis their resolution were also deliberated upon in the meeting. The members of the Committee drew the attention to the demand of safe and honourable return and rehabilitation of KPs to the Valley.
The members unanimously resolved that the Sabha must come out in clear terms on the issue of misinformation / misgiving on the participation and casting vote by the KP voters. The Sabha appeals to all members of the community to come out in large numbers and cast vote in favour of the candidates of their choice. In the largest democracy of the world, Assembly and Parliament are the Constitutional bodies where the voice of a common man can be heard and redressed.
A wholehearted participation of KPs in the ensuing Assembly elections shall prove the solidarity of community with the nation in more visible and effective manner. The participation and exercise of the democratic right to cast vote is more important for the members of the community who got displaced and are holding the spirits high for honourable return and rehabilitation. The Sabha strongly believes that participation and voting by the community members in the ensuing election shall pave way for settlement of several issues of displaced Pandits including the judicial probe in the causes of mass exodus in 1990, in a time bound manner.
The meeting was attended by Ashwani Koul, S. L. Bagati, G.J. Kampassi, Prof. R. K. Ganjoo, Asha Kitchloo, Dr. Usha Tickoo, Dr. Sujata Sathoo, Vinod Bhat, Rajinder Tiku, Subash Dhar, Ashok Kher, Satish Khuda, and Jitender Parimoo.
