KPS, Bhagawaan Gopinath Ashram, others celebrate Zang Tri

JAMMU, Mar 24: Zang Tri function was organized at K. P Sabha Ambphala here today. It is the Tritiym Tithi of Navratra – Maa Chanderghanta day.
The day marks the respect for womanhood. It is the day, in ancient Kashmir, when married women used to pay visit to their parent’s home on third day of Navreh and is now celebrated as women-empowerment day by the community.
A large number of ladies along with their families participated in the function and Sabha as usual performed all traditional formalities.
Dr. Usha Tickoo was the chief guest and function was presided over by K. K. Khosa, president of Sabha. The hymns in the praise of Ganesh and Goddess Durga were recited by Kashmiri vocalist Dr. Deepali Wattal.
President K. K. Khosa welcomed the gathering, and desired for greater and responsible role of KP women folk in transforming the community into a model society. He stressed on the responsibility of Kashmiri women folk in preserving the Kashmiri culture and language by way of imbibing the practice of conversing in Kashmiri language with younger generation at home.
Dr. Usha Tickoo, enlightened the women on the religious significance of Zang Tri and appealed for active participation in the programmes organized by Sabha from time to time. She explained the significance of Zangtri Festival.
All senior functionaries of the Sabha also attended the function.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Sujata Sathoo and G. J. Kampassi, secretary presented the vote of thanks.
Another function as held at Bhagawaan Gopinath Ji AshramUdaiwala Bohri.
Santosh Shah Nadan a well known writer and poet was the chief guest on the occasion. The inaugural address was made by Opinder Krishan Bhat. On the occasion Guru Vandana was held.
The chief guest was honoured by the president of the Trust. Hundreds of women participated in the function and paid obeisance at the lotus feet of Bhagawaan Ji. The Trust exhorted them to follow the teachings of Bhagawaan Ji. On the occasion artists including Deepali Wattal, Ravi Bhan, Shanti Lal Sidh, R K Saproo and others presented melodious and devotional songs. To continue the rituals the women were presented gifts in a traditional way. The function was held in other ashrams of Bhagawaan Ji all over India including Kashmir.
Another function as held at Geeta Bhawan Muti where the women folk in large number participated and they were presented gifts in traditional way. The function as organised by Siddivinayak Temple Geeta Bhawan Muthi. Bushan Lal Bhat Sharnagath mesmerised the audience with the bhajans on the occasion.
