KPs’ concern over encroachment of temple land

JAMMU, Apr 24: Various Kashmiri Pandit organizations have expressed concern over the grabbing of ancient Bairav Temple at Chachabal in Srinagar city today and demanded its immediate restoration to the community.
In a statement issued here today Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust national spokesperson, Dr R L Bhat said that the entire community was shocked to hear that the temple land was encroached by some vested elements in connivance with the authorities of Revenue Department.
He urged the authorities to act against the land encroachers and take action against the revenue authorities who were involved in the same.
He said the DC Srinagar is fully aware of the issue but he did not act against the land grabbers and reiterated the demand for passage of Shrines and Temples Bill to ensure the safety of Hindu shrines in Valley.
Expressing concern over the encroachment of temple land, H L Chatta president All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), sought immediate intervention of the Government in the matter. He warned that the entire community will come to streets if the land belonging to ancient temple was not restored immediately.
Questioning the sincerity of the Government towards its oft repeated claims regarding return of migrants with honour and dignity Chatta said when Government could not protect the shrines of Hindus how can it guarantee security to the migrants on their return.
KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri while expressing his concern over the act said it is a serious issue and Government should restore the shrine immediately and ensure the safety of all shrines and religious places of Hindus in Valley.
He also demanded immediate constitution of Shrines Board by promulgating an Ordinance.
