JAMMU, Sept 24: Expressing serious concern over the delaying tactics adopted by the Government on formation of Prabandhak Board for the preservation and management of Kashmiri Hindu shrines and temples in the Valley, displaced Pandits today decided to accelerate their struggle in this regard.
The decision to intensify the movement was taken in a meeting of Kashmiri Pandits held at Geeta Bhawan, Muthi which was organized by Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust.
The meeting took serious note of the recent statement of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in Apex Committee when he said that the Government can’t bring the ordinance as the Bill for formation of shrine Board has already been tabled in the Assembly. It said this way Mr Abdullah was backtracking from his previous statement and assurance given to the community that the Government will bring an ordinance in place of the Bill for formation of Prabandhak Board for Hindu shrines and temples in Valley.
The meeting said the statement given by Chief Minister in Apex Committee meeting at Srinagar recently has hurt the sentiments of the community who had pinned high hopes on him and his Government that it will fulfill the commitment in this regard.
The meeting said that the condition of most of the Hindu shrines and temples in Valley is deplorable while the land of maximum religious places has been either grabbed by land mafia or sold by some unscrupulous elements in connivance with the Government officials.
Maintaining that the Hindu religious places in the Valley are ancient monuments and cultural heritage centers the meeting said that their preservation is must for the future generations as they have both historical as well as religious background. The meeting said the community will leave no stone unturned and continue struggle till the board is formed.
The other KP organizations which attended the meeting included JK Vichar Manch, KP Sabha, Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC), Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), Nawdal Prabhandak Committee, Jawala Devi Asthapan Committee,  Manzgam Astapan Prabhandak Committee  etc.
