JAMMU, Feb 1: In order to highlight their issues, a delegation of over aged Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) relief holders called on the Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner, Dr Arvind Karwani, here today.
The delegation, led by Kuldeep Kashmiri and Bharat Kachroo emphasized the hardships faced by those who were between 16 and 35 years old at the time of their displacement from their homeland.
Speaking on the occasion the members informed the Commissioner that although the representation is primarily meant for the GoI, they deemed it appropriate to route it through the proper channel.
They acknowledged Dr Karwani as a model officer and sought his intervention in apprising the authorities about the pressing concerns of this particular generation.
The delegation also submitted a charter of their demands included one-time Financial Compensation of Rs 50 lakh per person to ensure a dignified old age, permanent Rehabilitation and Housing in Kashmir, providing built-up living spaces at district headquarters, conversion of Relief into a Permanent Family Pension, with a minimum of Rs 30,000 per family and simplified documentation Norms, ensuring a hassle-free process for rehabilitation and financial assistance.
The delegation further urged the Government to take immediate action and address their long-standing grievances.
