JAMMU, July 17: A joint delegation of All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), Jammu Kashmir Nationalist Movement (JKNM) and Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC), represented by M/S Vijay Kashkari. convener AIKS, S. K. Koul, general secretary JKNM, P L Koul Budgami, convener KHS and K L Ganjoo, Vice president KHS called on. M L Raina, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants) here today.
The delegation expressed hope that the Relief should be able to set right the functioning of the Relief Organization, which has earned the name of notoriety and the displaced persons losing faith in the organization.
The delegation expressed their dismay to the Relief Commissioner, on the insensitive working of the officials of the Relief Organization.
The problems of the displaced community, pertaining to day to day living, in particular relief, ration, bifurcation, addition and deletion of the members in registration records and issuance of State Subject Certificates was discussed. Emphasis was put on providing cash in lieu of ration as the quality ration was not provided to the displaced community. The delegation also pleaded for the employees, employed under PM package. The Relief Commis-sioner was apprised about their problems at the place of postings. RC (M) was asked to address their problems with the perception of current situation of the Valley.
The Relief Commissioner gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that what was under his delegation of powers will be addressed and other petitions forwarded to the authorities to frame a policy to the benefits of the displaced community.
The Relief Commissioner apprised the delegation that he will be shortly issuing a calendar of listening to the grievances of the displaced community in “Public Durbars”.
