JAMMU, Dec 30: To discuss the issues being faced by the Kashmiri Pandits, a delegation called on Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), Dr Arvind Karwani, here today.
The delegation led by M K Yogi and others, discussed other important issues with the higher authorities present during the meeting.
They also submitted charter of their demands included, request for immediate clarification/ Exemption for filling of NFSA Database Form by KP Migrants, its implications, and guarantees on migrant status.
The delegation expressed their serious concerns regarding recent developments that threaten the long-held migrant status and associated relief benefits of our community.
They further submitted that administrative restructuring, such as transferring responsibilities for essential services in migrant camps from Relief organisation to local departments, signals a disturbing shift in how the government treats the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community.
“It appears that if these alarming trends continue, the consequences will be catastrophic for our community and revocation of migrant status would strip our people of vital support systems, plunging many families into destitution and starvation by integrating them into the general population category,” they said.
“Keeping in view the above grave concerns, we strongly urge your good self to provide immediate, transparent clarification and exemption regarding the NFSA Database Form and its implications. Please ensure and guarantee that the migrant status and associated benefits for displaced Kashmiri Pandits will remain intact,” they added.
DC Relief Vijay Kumar, ACR Sanjeev Sharma, Sunil Pandita, Vinod Pandita, Bharat Kachroo, Kuldeep Kashmiri, Rakesh Koul, and Ashok Kumar Koul were also present during the meeting.
