JAMMU, Mar 23: Hundreds of displaced Kashmiri Pandits gathered in Jammu and other states to mark the 22nd anniversary of the Nadimarg Massacre.
Led by Youth 4 Panun Kashmir and Panun Kashmir, in Jammu, an Adhikaar Rally starts from Ved Bhavan Road and culminated at Raj Bhavan, paying homage to the 24 victims killed by militants in Nadimarg in 2003.
The rally demanded long-overdue justice and rehabilitation.
The rally also submitted a memorandum to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, outlining five key demands including the creation of a Union Territory of Panun Kashmir in the North and East of River Jhelum, official recognition of the 1989-90 ethnic cleansing as genocide, a special tribunal to prosecute perpetrators, resolution of PM package employee issues, and the enactment of the Kashmiri Hindu Temples and Shrines Protection Bill.
Dr Agnishekhar, Convener of Panun Kashmir, emphasized that the demand for homeland is a historical necessity for cultural survival.
Rahul Kaul, Chairman of the Apex Committee of Youth 4 Panun Kashmir, called for Indian Government to officially acknowledge the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits.
Vital Chowdhary, President of Youth 4 Panun Kashmir, termed the Rs 13,000 relief amount as inadequate and insisted on a dignified financial package.
General Secretary of Youth 4 Panun Kashmir, Digamber Raina, demanded full absorption of PM package employees, restoration of seniority and promotions, and inclusion under the 4% reservation for economically weaker sections.
Rajesh Kachroo, Organising Secretary of the Temples and Shrines Bill Committee, warned of the systematic destruction of Kashmiri Pandit heritage.
Leaders from various camps, including Pritoo Pandita, Vijay Pandita, and Anil Bhan, also expressed anger over continued neglect and called for urgent Government action.
The rally concluded with a pledge to continue the peaceful and constitutional struggle for identity, justice, and a homeland for Kashmiri Pandits.
