JAMMU, Apr 28: All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) along with various Kashmiri Pandit and Dogra organisations including NC Minority Cell today staged a protest demonstration against the desecration of famous and revered “Bhargashakha Bhagwati” temple at Mattan in Anantnag district of South Kashmir by miscreants two days back.
Scores of Pandits and Jammuites assembled at Exhibition Ground and shouted slogans against the District administration and local police for failing to provide adequate security to the temple leading to the desecration by the miscreants.
The protesters sought immediate constitution of Special Investigative Team (SIT) to probe the matter and bring culprits to book to restore the confidence of Kashmiri Pandits in the State administration.
Expressing shock over the incident APMCC Chairman Vinod Pandit appealed the Chief Minister to take up the matter urgently and order a high-level probe into it.
He also sought fool proof security cover to all the temples of Kashmir adding some miscreants were hell-bent upon destroying the heritage of Kashmiri Pandits.
In his address M K Yogi demanded stern action against the perpetrators of the act. He said the PDP-BJP Government has abdicated its responsibility by giving a long rope to the perpetrators and wrong doers . Making a scathing attack on BJP, he said its hypocrisy stands exposed as it ditched the Kashmiri migrants by creating obstacles in the passage of Hindu Shrines and Temples bill.
The protesters later took out a rally and shouted slogans against the culprits and the local district administration.
The protest was joined by many social and political organisations of Jammu and Kashmiri Pandits to express outrage over the incident.
