JAMMU, Apr 6: Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) are the primary stake holders of the territory of Kashmir and their aspirations need to be addressed by the creation of a separate Homeland on the north east of River Jhelum with free flow of Indian Constitution with Union Territory status.
This was stated by president of Panun Kashmir, Virender Raina, while addressing a press conference here today. He was accompanied by Prof ML Raina (advisor), Upinder Kaul (general secretary), Sameer Bhat (convener, PK Youth) and others.
Speaking over the current socio-political scenario and also the issues arising out of the ensuing elections in the State, Virender Raina expressed concern that the issues related to KPs have largely been ignored by the political parties in their election manifestos and there seems to be no seriousness in addressing the issues of Kashmiri Pandit exodus and their rehabilitation in their homeland in Kashmir.
“On the contrary some parties are vying with each other to dilute the security grid of the nation by reducing the footprint of the security forces in Kashmir and dilution of AFSPA. Such measures have proved disastrous in the past as it leads to increased militancy and also boosts the morale of the enemy,” he said and urged those parties to desist from such retrograde measures and focus on the victims of terrorist violence in Kashmir.
Upinder Kaul said the only party that has demonstrated the seriousness and resolve to fight the Pakistan sponsored terror in Kashmir is BJP led by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The bombing of the terrorists at Balakote is a paradigm shift in India’s security doctrine as it takes the battle deep beyond the enemy lines,” he said while welcoming the shifting of the war on terror into the territory of Pakistan.
Further welcoming the statement of BJP president Amit Shah on Article 370 and 35-A, he said these Articles have become bottleneck in the development of the State and need to go at the earliest.
