JAMMU, Sept 4: Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) along with Jammu leaders today held a massive Black Band protest demonstration against the recent attack on Nutnusa Transit Camp in Kupwara district of Kashmir valley and demanded immediate registration of an FIR in this regard.
The protest was organised by All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC). The protesters also demanded compensation to affected employees besides holding of dialogue with agitating All Migrant Employees Association of Kashmir (AMEAK) spearheading the present agitation at Jammu demanding absorption of all the PM package employees in camp offices at Jammu.
They also demanded appointment of a Nodal Officer to resolve their genuine demands
Today’s protest was organized in support of All Migrant Employees Association, Kashmir (AMEAK) consisting of PM Package and Non-PM Package Kashmiri Pandit, Jammu and Sikh employees working in Valley to condemn the recent attack on Nutnusa Kashmiri Pandit Colony, Kupwara, in which the quarters of these hapless employees were damaged and more than a dozen burnt down and belongings looted by the mob.
The employees are on a chain dharna at Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner’s Office for the past 54 days seeking adjustment outside Kashmir valley due to targeted attacks on their residential colonies after Burhan Wani’s killing on July 8 this year.
While the entire Kashmiri Pandit leadership has already come out in open support of the agitating employees the Jammu leadership is also coming out to support their genuine demands which include disbursement of their pending salaries, areas and a comprehensive return and rehabilitation programme of entire Kashmiri Pandit community in Valley before their return to re-join jobs. The protesters which included top organizations of KPs and Jammuites came down heavily on the attitude of the State and Central Government which leaves no opportunity to rehabilitate those who work against India but do not initiate even a formal talk to real stakeholders like Kashmiri Pandits who are the symbol of Indian nationalism in Kashmir.
The protesters said that the employees should be shifted to Jammu adding no Hindu employee will return to Valley unless and until the Government comes out with a comprehensive return plan for entire Pandit community which includes guarantee of their safety, security, dignity and honour and holding talks with Kashmiri Pandits immediately besides immediate appointment of a Nodal Officer for the employees in Jammu.
