JAMMU, Dec 16: Reiterating their overwhelming support to Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) in its struggle launched for passage of Kashmir Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill, Kashmiri Pandits today rejected the formation of the Shrines and Temples Board some persons having no mandate of community.
The reiteration of support was made in a meeting of Kashmiri Pandits which was organized under the aegis of PNBMT at KP Sabha here today. During the marathon meeting in which galaxy of KP leaders and intellectuals representing over 100 organizations participated said that entire community is for the passage of the Bill and warned the Government for delaying the passage of same for unknown reasons.
All the speakers were unanimous that the Trust should accelerate its struggle launched in 2011 after entire community showed solidarity with it and redouble its efforts regarding passage of the Bill.
The members also asked the people who have constituted a Board on their own to desist from such activities as it will have serious repercussions.
During the meeting it was announced that 27th Chetna Divas observed in memory of Amarshaheed Pt. Prem Nath Bhat will be turned into a Protest Day this year to alarm the community against the divisive forces bent upon fragmenting the unity of the community especially with respect to Shrines and Temples Bill.
A unanimous resolution was also adopted during the meeting through which it was resolved that a peaceful struggle for having law, duly passed by the State Legislature which envisages a democratic, accountable and transparent management of the temples, shrines and other religious places of Hindus in Kashmir.
It reiterated its resolution passed on April 14, 2011 where under it has designed that the PNBMT as a nodal agency to organize, manage and lead a peaceful campaign for having such a law in place.
The community also appreciated the work done by the Trust in this direction so far and asked the Trust to continue with the struggle for enactment of the law on the lines of Bill No 11/2009 introduced in previous Assembly , along with such modifications / amendments as are deemed appropriate and commits itself to render such help and support to the Trust as is required to have the desired law.
The resolution also rejected the idea of non statutory Board for the management of religious places spread across the Kashmir province. It said the community feels that any move initiated for the purpose by any member of the Kashmiri Hindu Community, would amount to the dilution of its intent and purpose. The resolution also considered it an unpleasant development fraught with the danger of fragmenting the Kashmir Hindu society.
The meeting was presided over by K K Khosa president KPS and those on the dais included Swami Kumar Ji, Moti Kaul, vice president BJP, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president PK, Prof P N Trisal, a well known scholar, B L Bhat, president, Vichar Manch , R L Pandita, Sharda Nandan, Ravinder Raina president ASKPC, Dr A N Pandita, chairman of the Trust.
The stage was conducted by Pardeep Kaul while the resolution was proposed by H L Bhat a senior functionary of the Trust which was later passed by voice vote.
Those who spoke included Shiban Khebri, journalist, B K Jalali, B L Saraf retired District and Session Judge, Chand Ji Bhat, president BJP Kashmir, C L Pandita of Tral, B L Bhat, ex MLC, P L Koul Badgami of KHC, R K Bhat of YAIKS,etc.
Prominent those present were B L Bhat, president Nagdandi Asthapan, Kuldeep Raina of Smajik Vikas Sansthan, H N Pandita of Devasthan Prabandhak Committee, Verinag, A K Raina and Vijay Kashkari of AIKS, M K Jalali, of Sharika Bhawani Asthapan, Subash Nagar, A N Bhat of Kulgishori Asthapan Kulgam, M K Bambroo and B K Wantoo of Nagbal Prabandhak Committee Anantnag, Virender Raina of PK and J L Pandit representative of Tral etc.
