KPs shocked over gutting of Jawala Ji shrine

JAMMU, Dec 13: Various KP organizations have expressed their profound shock and grief over the burning down of revered and ancient shrine of Jawala Ji at Khrew in South Kashmir district of Pulwama which is the presiding deity of Kashmiri Pandits.
Shri Jawala Ji Samiti Khrew said entire KP community in particular and Hindus in general have been shocked to hear about the burning down of this revered shrine in wee hours today.
The Samiti in its handout issued here, today said that by the time the fire tender from Khrew reached the hill lock, the main structure was already destroyed. It said the local population of Khrew and surrounding areas who had lot of faith in this ancient shrine were in a state of shock. However the Shilla and the sanctum sanctorum are safe.
The Samiti which is looking after the shrine in its emergency meeting took the stock of the situation and also dispatched its team to Khrew to clean the debris. In view of the extreme weather conditions, the Samiti has decided to erect a temporary structure so that the usual pooja at the shrine can be performed at the earliest. It said the construction of temple will be started in due course of time.
Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsang Ashram Muthi while expressing his profound shock and grief over the gutting of the holy temple at Khrew has appealed the community to come forward and construct a grand temple in its place which will be first of its kind in entire universe. He said instead of losing heart the KPs with grace of Goddess will construct a grand temple at the shrine in close coordination with Jawala Ji Samiti.
Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC) has also expressed its shock and grief over the gutting of the holy temple at Khrew. Its president M L Thusoo advocate and convener, P L Koul Badgami have announced every kind of help and assistance to Samiti in rebuilding the temple.
