JAMMU, July 6: Kranti Dal has accused the J&K Government and local Administration of deliberately harassing the Amarnath Yatris arriving here from different States of India by dividing families on the name of token system and has warned against harassment of Hindus as well as discrimination with Jammuites.
In this connection, a strong protest was taken out today at Hari Market, Jammu. Some pilgrims from Gujarat, who have reached here for Darshan of Baba Amarnath, also took part in the protest against alleged harassment of pilgrims because of new token system.
Addressing the gathering, Kranti Dal president Pritam Sharma said that Jammuites have been facing the heat of worst kind as on one hand business of Jammuites was being dented and on the other hand Amarnath Yatris were being harassed during Yatra by dividing families due to quota system in tokens.
“For some mysterious reasons, the Jammu business is not witnessing the boom as it used to be despite the fact the Amarnath Yatra is going on smoothly and large number of yatris are flocking the State,” he said adding the administration was deliberately bypassing Jammu by diverting the yatris directly to Kashmir. “During the last five days approximately 9000 yatris proceeded to Amarnath from Jammu but the total number of pilgrims who performed Darshan of Holy Shivling at Amarnath during the last five days, is approximately 55000,” he explained.
Pritam Sharma alleged that a number of hurdles were being created for smooth yatra as the fourth bridge on Tawi was closed and traffic diverted to city area creating a mess in the city even as it was no time to close the bridge when yatra was going on.
Demanding revocation of token system, Pritam Sharma said most of the yatris have cancelled their trip after administration tried to divide the families during yatra through this system. He also warned that if the Government fails to take measures immediately, Kranti Dal would resort to major agitation.
