Krantiteerth: Families of INA soldiers & Goa freedom fighters honoured

JAMMU, July 29: Today a programme of `Krantiteerth’ for honouring the unsung heroes of freedom movement, was organized by Praja Parishad Memorial Trust in collaboration with Centre for Advanced Research on Development and Change at Jourian.
The programme was organized under the direction of Ministry of Culture, Government of India and aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. In this program, 36 families of soldiers of Indian National Army and Goa freedom fighters were honoured by Shakti Kumar Pathak (DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range), Ramesh Chander (ADDC Jammu) and Prof Sanjeev Kumar Sharma (former VC).
The Convenor of the Krantiteerth, Jammu & Kashmir, Dr Ajay Kumar Sharma informed the gathering about the mission of Krantiteerth, which is a series of events to commemorate the unsung heroes, places and organization of freedom movement under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an initiative of PM Modi.
In his address, DIG Shakti Pathak, who was chief guest of the programme, said that the lakhs of people were martyred in the freedom struggle but remained unknown in the history. “Krantiteerth is remarkable initiative to honour all these unsung heroes of India,” he said and asked the present generation to get motivation of nationalism and patriotism from the legends of such unsung heroes of freedom movement.
Shakti Pathak said there are many challenges in our society and it the duty of the youth to fight every challenge and work for progress and development of India.
ADDC Ramesh Chander said that it is our duty to remember all such heroes and pay them our sincere tribute.
Prof Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi Central University of Bihar, was the key speaker and he highlighted the role of many unsung and lesser known heroes who sacrificed themselves for the freedom of India. He said that that during the freedom movement like rest of India, Jammu Kashmir had also played an important role.
The vote of thanks was presented by Daljit Singh Chib, President, Praja Parishad Memorial Trust. Other who were present on the occasion included Ex MLAs Rajeev Sharma and Dr Krishan Kumar, DDC Bhushan Bral, BDC Renu and other prominent citizens of Akhnoor, Jourian and Khour.
