SHOPIAN, Feb 23: Army remembered Shaheed Paratrooper Imtiyaz Thokar, Sena Medal of Krewa Manloo who gave supreme sacrifice to ensure peace and freedom for his mother nation.
Shaheed Imtiyaz Thokar was born on June 14, 1988 and at young age completed the toughest challenge of being Paratrooper of Special Forces of Indian Army. The tough, brave and dedicated soldier fought bravely in Sopore and eliminated three hardcore terrorists and in the ensuing firefight he gave supreme sacrifice to save civilians (his brothers and sisters) from the encounter site.
The homage was paid to martyr by laying wreath by Army officers from Chinar Corps followed by prayers. A medical camp was also organized at Shaheed Imtiyaz Thokar’s home.
Nazir Ahmed Thokar, father of Shaheed Imtiyaz Thokar, expressed that the path of sacrifice for the nation showed by Imtiyaz will be followed by all. He said that he along with families of Krewa Manloo are proud that brave son of the soil had laid life for the nation.
Colonel R S Bazad, Commanding Officer, 44 Rashtriya Rifles, while paying homage to Saheed Imtiyaz Thokar said that the peace attained in the region is only due to sacrifice of brave soldiers like Imtiyaz Ahmad Thokar.
He disclosed that a cricket tournament will be organized in Shopian on the name of Shaheed Imtiyaz Thokar and scholarships for a boy and girl will be sponsored by Army at Army Goodwill School Balapur under Shaheed Imtiyaz Thokar Scholarships.
