GURDASPUR, Apr 20: The mortal remains of Indian prisoner Kirpal Singh, who died under mysterious circumstance in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, was cremated today at his native place Mustfabad Saida village near here.
The body was brought at civil hospital here last night after a post-mortem at Government Medical College, Amritsar.
Kirpal’s nephew, Ashwani Kumar, lit the pyre while Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Pardeep Sabharwal and SSP Gurdaspur Jagdip Singh Hundal placed wreaths .
Mr Sabharwal assured the family members of Kirpal Singh that relief will be provided to them as per the government norms. Dalbir Kaur, sister of Sarabjit Singh who languished in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail for almost two decades, also attended the cremation. (UNI)
