JAMMU, Nov 23: An impressive function was organized in the premises of Krishi Bhawan, Jammu to pay homage to Bawa Jitto (Baba Jit Mal Dev Ji Maharaj), a legendary saint, who had made sacrifices about 650 years ago for the rights and justice of the farmers.
The Department of Agriculture Jammu paid rich tributes to this epitome of farming community and saluted his courage against injustice and suppression by the landlords of that time.
The programme was jointly organized by the Drivers Union, Officers, All J&K Agriculture Employees Association and staf of the Directorate of the Directorate as per its custom.
Speaking on ther occasion, Director Agriculture, Jammu, SS Jamwal lauded the honesty, humility, courage and truthfulness of Bawa Jitto.
A ‘havan’ and ‘pooja’ was performed on the occasion which was followed by distribution of ‘prashad’ and ‘bhandara’.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Sudesh Koul, Joint Director (Inputs), C M Sharma, Deputy Director Central , GD Gupta, Agriculture Chemist and Sunil Koul, Agronomist.
