JAMMU, Sept 14: Kshatriya Rajput Sabha (KRS), Kishtwar and Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS), Jammu has demanded the Government to declare birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh as gazetted holiday in J&K and Ladakh union territories.
Continue their campaign for the demand of holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh birthday, Yuva Rajput Sabha today held a series of meeting at Nagbani, Nagrota and Kot. The meetings were chaired by Surinder Singh Gilli, president Yuva Rajput Sabha.
Hundreds of Rajput youth attended the meetings. The Rajput youth expressed resentment against the Government for not declaring gazetted holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh. They strongly demanded the declaration of gazetted holiday on the birth anniversary of last Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Gilli wondered if former Chief Minister Sheikh Abdullah’s birthday could be observed as a State holiday, why Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary, which falls on September 13, could not be observed.
Meanwhile, Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha, Kishtwar also stressed upon the Government to declare birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh as gazetted holiday.
Highlighting the achievements of the Dogra rulers, District president of the Sabha, Vijay Kumar Wazir, demanded that in order to pay homage/tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh, the birth anniversary of Maharaja which comes on September 23 should be declared as gazetted holiday.
He said this is one of the primordial demand of the people of Jammu and Kashmir since time immemorial but the Kashmir centric political leaders always remained the stumbling stone to the effect all the times, being reason that they did not want Dogra culture to flourish anymore in J&K.
