THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, June 27: SciGate-Kerala, an innovative digital platform for facilitating and improving scientific collaboration for information sharing and knowledge building would be launched by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE).
The platform has been developed on the basis of the measures prescribed in the 2012 national science, technology and innovation Policy and Kerala’s draft science and technology policy, V N Rajasekharan Pillai, executive vice president of KSCSTE said in a release.
SciGate, or Scientific Gate, would map scientists, researchers and faculty members in the state and Keralites working in other states and foreign countries.
The scientists could register online by submitting basic personal information, the release said.
“Science was becoming increasingly multidisciplinary as it works to develop solutions to various problems faced by society. SciGate would serve as a catalyst in encouraging Research and Development output of the state besides permitting multi-stakeholder participation,” Pillai said.
The resource generated by the online platform would act as a a ready reckoner of innovative research and development outputs having the potential to address societal needs. The SciGate-Kerala would also help in discovering quality publications and notable projects from Kerala by mappping them in various basic and applied sciences, he said. (PTI)
