KU delays shortlist for Assistant Registrar, Controller posts

SRINAGAR, May 13: Kashmir University is yet to issue a shortlist of candidates who have
applied for the positions ofRegistrar and Assistant Controller despite the passing of seven
months since their examination was conducted.
The aggrieved candidates said that the Varsity is taking an inordinate amount of time to issue the shortlist of candidates for interviews, alleging that this is to help blue-eyed candidates get jobs.“The Varsity delayed our exams for three months and only held
them after candidates mounted pressure on them. From the beginning, there was something fishy about the recruitment,” a candidate said.
The Varsity advertised at least seven positions for which preliminary exams were held in August2021 and results were announced
in January. “The entire processhas been moving at snail’s pace
for unknown reaso ns,” the candidates explained. The candidates said that the Varsity held main exams in March this year, but no progress has been made in terms of issuing the shortlist. “The recruitment should have been completed by
now,” the candidates said, but the “entire process seems fishy”. Nissar Ahmad Mir, Registrar
of Kashmir University, told Excelsior that the mains paper evaluation process is underway and that the shortlist will be released once it is completed. “We have sent the mains papers for evaluation and once the result is with us, we will issue the shortlist
of candidates and interviews will be held accordingly,” he added.
When asked about the exam delays, he said they were caused by COVID, but were successful without any disturbances. “I agree there was a delay in the exams, but
we were helpless at the time because the situation was out of our hands due to COVID,” he said. The candidates urged LG Manoj Sinha, who is also the university’s Chancellor, to intervene so that the interview could take place and the positions are filled
as soon as possible. Pertinently, despite thousands
of candidates applying and submitting their forms, Kashmir University has halted the recruitment process for several teachingand non-teaching positions
