SRINAGAR, Oct 14: One day workshop on Promoting Innovation in individuals, Start ups and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (PRISM) and Technopreneurship Promotion Programme (TePP) was organised by TePP Outreach Centre (TUC), University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC), University of Kashmir, in collaboration with Mechanical Engineering Department NIT, at NIT campus, here today.
The Workshop was organized to boost the budding innovators and acquaint them with the financial support for technology innovation and patenting.
Director NIT, Prof Rajat Gupta, who presided over the event, said that present age is age of collaboration and it is necessary for young innovators to get associated with some organization to get proper direction for their inventions.
Head DSIR, Government of India, Indu Bhaskar, who was the chief guest, said that they have established a TUC at USIC, KU, for scouting and processing your innovations and DSIR can provide financial support upto Rs 45 lakh for any innovator capable of innovating a technology to provide a scientific solution to an existing problem in the society.
Director USIC and Coordinator TUC, Prof GM Bhat, said that the purpose of this workshop was to sensitize the technocrats about the new ideas and innovations, which consequently lead to new technology.
Head of Mechanical Engineering Department NIT, Prof MF Wani said that engineers have an important duty to introduce new technology which will help to create a colossal abate in problems that are frequented across the globe.
During the workshop, three technical sessions were held, followed by an interactive session.
