Srinagar, Dec 4: A Senior Assistant Professor of the Kashmir University’s Electronics Department has figured in top 2 per cent of scientists globally listed by the Stanford University in the field of Networking and Telecommunications and sub-field of Artificial intelligence and image processing.
Dr Shabir Ahmad Parah, a resident of Lar area of Ganderbal district received his doctorate in Electronics from the department of Electronics and Instrumentation Technology in the year 2013.
Dr Parah said that one has to work hard in his/ her life to achieve set goals and that there is no substitute for hard work.
He has authored at least 120 research papers while his work has been published in various reputed journals such as IEEE, Elsevier, Springer and Wiley. He also has 4 IEEE awards.
Regarding his other works, he has also edited one book on Multimedia Security, while contributing at least 15 chapters in various edited books.
He has also been successful in securing a research grant of around Rs1.2 crore from the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, New Delhi and University Grants Commission.
Notably, Dr Shabir was the first student of Kashmir division who qualified JRF/NET in Electronic Sciences subject in 2008. Apart from his teaching duties, Dr Parah is currently leading Signal Processing and Communication Engineering Research Group (SPACE- Research Group) at KU.
His areas of interest include Multimedia Security, Cryptography, Image Processing, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, biomedical imaging and smart health.
