Kud firing: Cong MLC stages walkout; BJP takes a dig at Govt

SRINAGAR: An opposition Congress member in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council today staged a walkout from the House after his demand for a clarification from the Government over the recent incident of firing between a militant and security forces at Kud in Udhampur district was turned down.

As soon as the House met in the morning, Congress MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga raised the matter, saying the family members of Tanveer Sultan, killed in security forces firing, have contested the Government’s version that he was a militant.

Monga added that there was a shutdown in Bemina area yesterday over the issue and demanded a clarification from the Government.

However, Chairman Anayat Ali asked him to sit down even as no one from the treasury benches spoke on the issue.

Demanding a statement from the Government, the Congress MLC then staged a walkout from the House. (AGENCIES)
