Srinagar, Feb 12: A young creative artist from South Kashmir’s Kulgam district has managed to secure a mention in the Asian and Indian Book of Records for his exceptional artistic skills.
Mudasir Rehman Dar (26), hailing Kulpora village of Kulgam has achieved the feat by his smallest painting of Holy Kabah on a ring stone which is unheard of in J&K and even in the country.
A self-taught artist, Mudasir said that he has been trying his hands on paintings right from his childhood and in the absence of avenues and platforms that could have promoted him, he remained under the shadows so far.
“I have my unique style of painting and paint on the themes that I find around me and are cent per cent original in nature,” he told Excelsior.
While he was busy making art, he finally turned to the social media which eventually brought fame for him. “I create abstract painting and portraits and while I was craving for a platform, the social media gave me one and my work started getting noticed,” he said.
His themes are varied; however, he has been trying to portray social evils through his artwork along with focusing on the menace of drug abuse, child labour and other social evils that exist in the society.
“The artwork gives me peace and solace and helps in sending across a message, with the work on the ring stone bringing me fame,” he said.
Notably, Mudasir has won the title of “Grand Master” in the Asian Book of Records, while as in the India Book of Records he has been conferred with “Feat Achieved” title for his unique work on the ring stones, besides winning several national, state and district level awards.
He said that his mention in the record books is the acknowledgement of his work and the appreciation of his creativity and originality; however, he said that he still wants a platform to showcase his artwork.
Mudasir said that while the youth of Kashmir is full of talent, there is a need for providing them with a platform to showcase their art and hone their skills.
“It was when I did something, people started getting to know me, till then I was one among the crowd; there is a need for providing good platforms and opportunities for the youth,” he said.
