BHADERWAH, Feb 15: The traditional festival ‘Kunchoth’ is being celebrated here and erstwhile Doda district with zest, zeal and fervour.
The festival envisages a message for the union of two souls and sustainability of respect, honour and value of prayers from elders to the younger ones in the family.
At the outset of the celebration of the festival, wife which is a symbol of respectful relation, pays gratitude to her husband by undergoing fast for the day in the name of her husband. She visits temple of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati and prays for the prosperity of the family, community and particularly for the long life of her husband.
Moreover, the fraternity performs the same activity by adding an ethical mark of ‘Charanbandana’ in lieu of which coconut fruit is gifted to the bower.
The magnitude of the festival makes the society to understand the respect, honour and dignity between two souls (husband and wife) and cultural disciplines among the families.
