Kundal chairs joint meeting of BDSA executive committee, advisory council

JAMMU, Oct 22: A joint meeting of the Executive Committee and Advisory Council of Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Academy (BDSA), J&K was held today under the chairmanship of working president BR Kundal in the BDSA premises, Roopnagar, Jammu.
Besides others, the conveners and co-conveners of all the sub-committees framed under the Advisory Council of BDSA were also present. The main agenda of the meeting was the assignment of responsibilities for the conveners and co-conveners of various committees, deemed essential to ensure a more structured and efficient execution of the academy’s functions and events.
During the meeting, a thorough discussion was held concerning the roles and responsibilities of the sub-committees. BR Kundal provided a clear outline of the mandate of various committees and duties of the conveners and co-conveners. Besides, legal advice was sought from the members on the necessity of safeguarding the academy premises from unauthorized access and trespassing.
Rajesh Angural, co-convener of the literary committee submitted a memorandum proposing the publication of a book on Mahasha Nahar Singh. The committee in principle agreed to support this project as and when funds are available with the academy. Furthermore, to increase the participation of women and students in the BDSA activities, all members were requested to suggest suitable women and student candidates.
Towards the end, members deliberated on the conduct of next program to pay respect to late Amar Nath Bhagat, a great Dalit icon of the region.
Members present in the meeting were PL Bhushan, Ruplal Bharati, Hem Raj Phonsa, Nagarmal, Vijay Bhagat, RL Bhagat, Desraj, Dr Rakesh Kumar Atri, Lokinder Singh Ravi, Laj Ram, Inderjeet Shavotra, Janak Raj Thappa, Dr Parshotam Kumar, Dr Ashwani Kalsi and Sudesh Kumar.
