Kundal reviews working of Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Academy

JAMMU, June 8: Former chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir and newly appointed working president of Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya (BDS) Academy today reviewed working of the Academy during a meeting of the office bearers held at Academy office located at Roopnagar.
The meeting was attended by all executive committee members of the Academy as well as a galaxy of personalities and retired civil officers from the community including Ashok Angurana, (retired union secretary), Guldev Raj Bhagat (retired secretary in J&K Government), Bodh Raj Dogra (retired CE Hydraulic), Duni Singh Motten (retired GM, general insurance) and Hem Raj Phonsa.
Kundal was informed by the executive members during the meeting that the Academy organizes conferences and seminars to bring in equality in the society and popularize thoughts of Baba Saheb BR Ambedkar on various issues amongst common masses, besides making everyone aware of their duties and responsibilities as enshrined in the constitution.
Pertinent to mention here that Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Academy is a registered body under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The academy was established with a view to encourage and provide platform to the deprived sections of the society to show case their literary work and promote the ideals of equality, liberty, social justice and unity of the country as enshrined in the Constitution of India.
Speaking on the occasion, Kundal sought cooperation of everyone from across the communities of Jammu to fulfill the unfinished agenda of bringing unity amongst all sections of the society and creating conditions whereby deprived sections of the society are in a position to show their talent.
