Kundal takes up issues of SCs, STs, OBCs with CM

JAMMU, Apr 9: Former Minister (Ex-MLA Samba) and senior Congress leader, Yashpaul Kundal today called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and projected the issues of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and the Other Backward Classes people.
During the meeting with the Chief Minister, Kundal strongly projected the issues of these reserved communities and submitted a detailed memorandum to the CM as well. Kundal said that these communities, strongly oppose the proposed amendments introduced through a private members bill by a legislator from NC during this Budget session. People have opposed the proposed reduction in the quota of SCs from current 8 % to 4 %, STs from 10 % to 7 % and OBCs reservation from 8 to 5 %.
Kundal further projected demands including implementation of reservation in promotions for these reserved categories, strict implementation of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989, restoration of orifinal SC roster points (SRO-294), filling up of backlog vacancies of SCs/STs/OBCs, reconstitution and revival of SC/ST/OBC Advisory & Development Boards, restoration of Land Rights under Roshni Scheme, and land allocation to landless SCs/STs/ OBCs.
He further demanded appointment of SC/OBC members to the J&K Public Service Commission, timely disbursement of SC/ST/OBC scholarships and repatriation of General Line Teachers from the Union Territory of Ladakh as many of them are facing health issues due to high altitude region.
The Chief Minister assured the former MLA and senior Congress leader to address these issues on priority basis.
